Best Western Hotels & Resorts celebrated the arrival of its boutique hotel brand, Glo, introducing its first-ever property in DeSoto, TX. Best Western executives, local dignitaries and community VIPs were on hand at the event. “We’re excited to celebrate the opening of our first Glo property and to introduce this innovative, traveler-centric brand to the world,” said David Kong, president and CEO, Best Western Hotels & Resorts.

Cambria Hotels has opened its doors in the hometown of the University of Maryland with the grand opening of the Cambria Hotel College Park. This 150-room new-construction hotel is the second Cambria-branded hotel to open in Maryland, joining the Cambria Hotel Rockville near parent company Choice Hotels’ headquarters. Southern Management Corporation, owner and manager of the hotel, celebrated the grand opening by presenting a $57,000 check to Elizabeth Seton High School, a local, private, all-girls high school. The donation will be used to fund scholarships, which will be awarded to students who are committed to participating at the Southern Management Hospitality Program at the high school.

One of Charlottesville, VA’s newest hotels, The Draftsman, celebrated its grand opening. The property, an Autograph Collection hotel, is located next to the University of Virginia Medical Center. The 11-story hotel has 150 guestrooms and more than 2,300 sq. ft. of dedicated event space. Virginia House Delegates Minority Leader David Toscano (far left) spoke to the crowd before the event, which included local dignitaries and executives from Donohoe Hospitality Services, Carr Companies and Marriott International Inc., among others.
