Shipt expands to hospitality

Shipt, a personal shopping and delivery platform, is bringing its same-day delivery to travelers across the country.

In partnership with InTown Suites, Uptown Suites, Mainsail Lodging & Development, Stay Sojo and RCI, Shipt is hotel guests’ one-stop shop for fresh foods; household and wellness products; and more. The company’s new partnerships will reach more than 1,000 locations.

“As a service-obsessed retail technology company that connects customers to reliable delivery of fresh foods; household and office essentials; beauty and wellness products; and more, Shipt is always looking for innovative ways to reach customers, even in places that might be new or unfamiliar to them,” said Alex Ross, VP, business development, Shipt.

Shipt worked with its partners to identify the needs of extended-stay guests. These types of guests—who are oftentimes in an unfamiliar area and adjusting to a new city for an extended period—are looking for access to food delivery and personal items.

“Guests and residents at partner properties will be offered trial memberships and will be able to browse shipt.com through a cobranded landing page to access fresh foods, household essentials, wellness products and other product needs with the added benefit of easy communication with dedicated shoppers,” Ross explained. “Guests and residents will also be able to take their trial membership with them when they return home, giving them the convenience of Shipt no matter where they are.”

While at their hotel, guests can visit the landing page and browse the Shipt marketplace to shop and receive items from the store to the property within an available window of time.

“We anticipate that travelers of all types will use and enjoy the convenience Shipt offers, from families grabbing forgotten-at-home essentials to business travelers gathering morning breakfast items to get ready for their day,” Ross said. “We’re here for both.”

Shipt’s initial four partners host a variety of guests, the VP said, while offering temporary lodging for both business and leisure.

“Stay Sojo, along with InTown and UpTown Suites, typically host traveling workers still seeking the day-to-day structure they would have at home,” Ross said. “With summer travel not far away, we are confident that these new partnerships will provide Shipt customers with the same peace of mind in shopping for their essentials or last-minute needs as they would at home.”

What sets Shipt apart from other services of its kind, however, is that it connects customers to delivery with a personal touch, offering members the option to select a preferred shopper who is familiar with their needs and preferences to personalize the experience.

But with any new venture comes a host of challenges. “With any new partnership, there is a learning period where we work to educate customers on the best way to use our platform,” Ross said. “All our hospitality partners have worked with us to streamline the process for their guests, with attention to accessibility and ease in mind. We also provide a detailed and regularly updated FAQ page for new customers to reference and a customer care team should any questions arise.”

According to the VP, Shipt is always looking for cutting-edge ways to reach its customers, and the company hopes to grow the hospitality area of its business.

“We are grateful to InTown and UpTown Suites, Mainsail, RCI and Stay Sojo for forging this new partnership with Shipt and are excited to see customer feedback as we roll out this first-of-its-kind experience for the business,” Ross said. “We’re thrilled to expand our reach and provide even more customers with the same-day, reliable delivery they are used to at home while traveling. We hope to be growing this area of our business with new partners and increased capability for all.”
